The customer is a world leader in commercial refrigeration. It caters to a diverse clientele with varied needs by bringing technology, durability, and low energy consumption for businesses. The Brazil-based customer approached Redington, seeking expert advice to chart its migration plan.
Challenge:
- Performing agentless scan of the source servers in the customer’s environment.
- Identifying the inter-server communications, dependencies by pinpointing the port information.
- Conducting extended scan to identify the server’s performance metrics.
- Determining Cloud feasibility and cost modeling based on the results of the scan.
- Offering precise suggestions for Lift & Shift migration from the on-prem environment to the Cloud
Solution:
- Spotlight used one Vanguard server to perform an agentless scan to gain in-depth information about the servers.
- Spotlight identified the communication ports, along with process information and ID, based on which inter-server dependencies were identified.
- Extended scan results helped capture the metrics on CPU, memory, and network utilization, based on which equivalence match was made for rightsizing.
- Spotlight offered precise TCO of the selected Cloud, which helped the customer to draft a comprehensive migration strategy.
- Spotlight offers precise recommendations to empower partners to migrate customer environments from on-prem to Cloud.
The customer had over 11 servers in a single datacenter. Redington used one Vanguard to carry out a detailed assessment of the environment to generate incisive and insightful reports that charted the course for the customer’s future migration plan.
Outcome:
Redington used Spotlight to deliver Cloud assessment services to its customer. The partner scanned and assessed the customer’s datacenter using our platform and generated detailed reports. The reports on migration feasibilities for the datacenter and its servers were shared with the customer.
By using Spotlight, Redington helped the customer to analyze their datacenters and formulate an optimum migration strategy.
